Jan King has a broad experience in the voluntary sector, most notably in the areas of social exclusion. She has successfully led services at chief executive and senior manager levels. She is a Board member of a Registered Social Landlord and of European agency promoting equality in drug services. For three years to 2001 she was Chair of the London Drug Services Consortium and until its disbandment in 2001 was a Board member of the Inner London Probation Service. She was on the Board of the London Drug and Alcohol Network and is now a board member of T3E, a European network of drug treatment providers.
Jan King was, until recently, the interim Chief Executive of Urban Forum, a national body which works with communities to give them a voice to inform government policy. This role has given her close contacts with community groups as well as the ACU, ODPM, NRU and with the LDA. Her other work involves her bringing together community groups with professionals and creating solutions which are sustainable. She was the Chief Executive of Milton House a residential drug treatment service where she developed new provision for young people and a criminal justice programme. In addition she successfully merged the organisation after having achieved an Investors In People award and new income streams.
Jan has managed and led a range of training and development activities and has been seconded as Head of Personal for a large Registered Social Landlord. As a Regional Training Manager for NACRO, she managed and delivered training in London and the South East and established a training agency working in prisons and with probation officers. In addition she led and managed the organisations national training agency staff.
