Steve Kenny is a Senior lecturer in Social and Community Studies at Manchester Metropolitan University and was Course Leader for the MA in Drug Interventions Studies. She is also a Consultant and trainer in Young Peoples Substance Misuse and Youth and Community Development Work and holds an M. Phil from the University of Manchester.
Steve Kenny has undertaken a range of substance misuse service evaluations which include Stockport, Bury and Rochdale Young People's Substance Misuse Service (YPDP) and a Review of the commissioning of drug services: commissioning standards and policy. London Borough of Newham She has contributed to the development of a drug strategy of community-based parent/family support groups in Warrington and St Helens and has developed and piloted an accredited community-based drug training programme in Bolton.
During the last few years Steve has worked with the ten Drug Action Teams in Greater Manchester to develop a common Substance Misuse Screening and Initial Assessment Framework for children and young people's services. She has worked with the Youth Justice Board evaluating Young People's Substance Misuse Service relationships with Youth Offending Teams and undertaken a project on Substance Misuse and Looked After Children for the South Yorkshire Coalfields Health Action Zone. She was also involved with Greater Manchester Police in developing the Young People's Custody Liaison Pilot Scheme and with Greater Manchester via DoH evaluating a Tier 4 Young People's Substance Misuse Services. Steve has also undertaken Young People's Substance Misuse Needs Assessments in three areas.
