Sophie Pilkington

Sophie has excellent inter-personal and communication skills accompanied with an empathic nature, which enables her to relate to people. She is a problem solver who uses her experience of information technology and data resources to assist in researching and locating solutions. She has knowledge and understanding of data protection issues having prepared and disseminated polices and monitored compliance with legislation.

Sophie has over four years experience of information Technology administration and management experiences within a media organisation. She has worked with the Group IT Manager to create a Data Protection Policy for managers and ensured compliance with the Data Protection Act. She has worked closely with the training department to produce an awareness raising programme for data protection issues and has investigated alleged breaches of policy and legislation. She has developed and maintained a software management policy and advised on software licensing. She has also provided inputs to the administration of disaster recovery planning.

As Group IT Manager she has created an IT purchasing policy and implemented an IT Blueprint. She has managed all aspects of administration associated with IT purchasing and monitored technical trends to enable standards to reflect current technology, this has include creating a preferred supplier list and purchasing.

Sophie worked as part of a team providing a student information help desk covering financial assistance, support in cases of financial hardship and administering funds. She produced advertisements for the students Careers Service graduate recruitment publications.
