Introduction
The Audit Tool has been developed to assist Joint Commissioning Groups and Commissioners of Young People’s Substance Misuse Services. It has been designed to enable groups to undertake a self assessment of their competencies which will help identify where they are performing well, gaps and areas where improvements can be made. The Audit Tool will also assist identify who should be involved in which activity and whether they have the necessary skills and knowledge to undertake the tasks.
The Audit Tool was created through the Home Office, Drugs Strategy Directorate, Young People’s Pooled Budget Pilot which ran from November 2002 to March 2004. It was produced as a result of work with the Commissioners of Young People’s Substance Misuse services and was piloted with five Drug (and Alcohol) Action Teams. The tool uses the Drugs and Alcohol National Occupational Standards Commissioning Units which provide a benchmark of good practice.
You can either work through the seven sections of the Audit Tool to provide a full assessment or select a section which you consider a priority and then return to complete the others at a latter date. When you have completed the audit, you should be clear about:
- What is expected of each member of the Joint Commissioning Group
- Whether you are doing your job to national standards
- What you need to do to improve performance, knowledge and skills.
Getting Started
Each self assessment audit has a reference number. If you have already started or completed an audit please enter your reference number and PIN code in the top form, on the right hand side.
If this is your first self assessment a reference number will be generated for you. Enter a four digit PIN code in the bottom form, on the right hand side. Your reference number will be displayed on the next screen. You will need to keep a record of this and your PIN code as you will need them the access your audit again in the future.
